Chhattisgarh High Court Chief Justice Ramesh Sinha Inaugurates Lawyers’ Hall and Digital Computer Lab at Mungeli District Court

Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh – March 05, 2025 – A significant milestone in enhancing judicial infrastructure and digital accessibility was achieved today as Hon‘ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, The Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh virtually inaugurated the newly constructed Lawyers’ Hall and Digital Computer Lab at the District Court, Mungeli. The event was conducted online, reaffirming the commitment to strengthening the working environment for legal professionals.

The event was presided over by the Hon’ble Shri Justice Ramesh Sinha, The Chief Justice, High Court of Chhattisgarh and was graced by the esteemed presence of Hon’ble Shri Justice Bibhu Datta Guru, Judge, High Court of Chhattisgarh, and Portfolio Judge for Mungeli District.

Addressing virtually from the High Court premises, Hon’ble The Chief Justice in his impactful virtual address underscored the critical importance of robust infrastructure in ensuring the effective administration of justice. Remembering the previous condition of District Court Mungeli, His Lordship stated,

“When I first visited Mungeli District, I found the condition very deplorable, and I made it a point that I have to improve the condition of District Judgeship Mungeli.”

Hon’ble The Chief Justice extended heartfelt congratulations to everyone on the occasion of the Inauguration Ceremony, emphasizing that the new Lawyers’ Hall and Digital Computer Lab would significantly contribute to the efficiency and convenience of legal practitioners. His Lordship stated,

“I foresee that this hall for lawyers, constructed and provided to them, would be a proof of a better place for them for the administration of justice and delivering expeditious justice to the litigants.”

The newly inaugurated Lawyers’ Hall, measuring 168 square meters, is designed to provide a comfortable space for advocates to conduct discussions, prepare cases, and engage in legal research. The Digital Computer Lab, spanning 42.09 square meters, is equipped with high-speed internet and modern computing facilities, enabling access to legal databases, e-court services, and online case management systems, thereby enhancing the efficiency of legal proceedings.

The construction of these facilities was made possible following administrative approval of ₹36.99 Lakhs, which was received on October 3, 2023, from the Law Department. Work was completed on November 9, 2024, and the work completion certificate was received on February 18, 2025. This significant financial investment underscores the commitment to advancing judicial infrastructure and improving working conditions for legal professionals.

During his address, Hon’ble The Chief Justice also underscored the necessity of maintaining cleanliness and hygiene within Court premises and the Lawyers’ Hall. He urged lawyers, court staff, and visitors to uphold cleanliness as a collective responsibility, ensuring that the facilities remain pristine for years.

“A clean and well-maintained court environment reflects the dignity of the legal profession. I appeal to all legal professionals to take an active role in preserving the cleanliness of these newly established facilities.” His Lordship remarked.

It is noteworthy that the Chhattisgarh High Court is celebrating the 25th year of its formation, the “Silver Jubilee Year.” A series of inauguration and foundation-laying ceremonies for various judicial infrastructure projects was initiated by Hon’ble The Chief Justice from November 1, 2024. Today, as part of the ongoing Judicial Infrastructure developments in the “Silver Jubilee Year,” the inauguration of the Lawyers’ Hall and Digital Computer Lab in Mungeli marks another landmark in the ongoing efforts to modernize judicial infrastructure in Chhattisgarh, paving the way for a more efficient and technology-driven legal system.

The event was attended by the Registrar General, High Court of Chhattisgarh, Officers of the Registry, Judicial Officers and Administrative Officers of District Mungeli, esteemed Office Bearers and Members of the Bar Association of District Mungeli, Court Staff, and representatives from the media.
