Manan Kumar Mishra Re-Elected as Bar Council of India Chairman for Seventh Straight Term

Senior Advocate Manan Kumar Mishra has been re-elected as the chairman of the Bar Council of India (BCI) for the seventh consecutive term, securing his position unopposed. Mishra, who is also a Rajya Sabha member representing the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from Bihar, continues his long-standing leadership within the nation’s legal community.

The election for the Vice Chairman of the BCI is still ongoing, featuring candidates S Prabhakaran from Tamil Nadu & Puducherry and Ved Prakash Sharma from Delhi. This significant election is scheduled to take place on March 2, under the oversight of Mishra, following his recent re-election.

Further enhancing the agenda under Mishra’s continued chairmanship, the BCI will host a crucial national meeting on May 17 in New Delhi. This assembly will gather advocate representatives and members from the State Bar Councils to discuss a variety of critical issues facing the legal profession today. Among the key topics slated for discussion are advocate welfare, the much-anticipated Advocate Protection Act, and several policy matters that are poised to shape the future of the Bar in India.
