Four Additional Judges of Madras High Court Elevated as Permanent Judges

The Supreme Court Collegium, in its meeting held on February 20, 2025, has approved the elevation of four Additional Judges of the Madras High Court as Permanent Judges.

The judges who have been granted permanent status are:

1.  Justice Ramasamy Sakthivel
2.  Justice P. Dhanabal
3.  Justice Chinnasamy Kumarappan
4.  Justice Kandasamy Rajasekar

The Collegium, headed by Chief Justice of India Sanjiv Khanna, took the decision after reviewing the performance and judicial record of the Additional Judges. The recommendation will now be forwarded to the Central Government for formal approval and issuance of the necessary notifications.

These appointments come as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen the judiciary and ensure the smooth functioning of the Madras High Court, which has been dealing with a significant caseload. The newly confirmed Permanent Judges are expected to contribute to the efficient delivery of justice in Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.
