Centre Approves Appointment of Two Judicial Officers as Judges of Andhra Pradesh High Court

In a recent development, the Central Government has approved the appointment of two judicial officers as judges of the Andhra Pradesh High Court. The announcement was made by Union Minister of State for Law and Justice, Arjun Ram Meghwal, via X (formerly Twitter).

The newly appointed judges are Avadhanam Hari Haranadha Sarma and Dr. Yadavalli Lakshmana Rao. Their elevation to the High Court bench follows a recommendation by the Supreme Court Collegium, which convened on January 11 to finalize their names.

Currently, the Andhra Pradesh High Court operates below its full capacity. It has a sanctioned strength of 37 judges but has been managing with only 28. The inclusion of Sarma and Rao will increase the number of sitting judges to 30, leaving seven vacancies yet to be filled.
