The Allahabad High Court has scheduled a hearing for February 20 to decide on the transfer of additional cases related to the Krishna Janmabhoomi-Shahi Idgah Masjid dispute from the Mathura court to the high court. This decision comes in response to a petition filed on behalf of Bhagwan Shri Krishna Lala Virajman, seeking to centralize multiple related cases currently distributed across different courts.
The petition highlights the historical and complex nature of the dispute involving the land where the Shahi Idgah Masjid currently stands, which the Hindu plaintiffs claim is the rightful birthplace of Lord Krishna. To date, 18 suits have been filed by the Hindu side demanding the removal of the mosque structure, restoration of a temple, and a permanent injunction on the property.
Justice Kshitij Shailendra, presiding over the preliminary proceedings, has already issued notices to the UP Sunni Central Waqf Board among other respondents involved in the dispute. Advocates Rina N Singh and Rana Singh, representing the petitioner, argued that consolidating these cases at the high court would ensure a more streamlined and focused adjudication given their significant historical implications.
