In a recent legal turn, popular actor Allu Arjun approached the Telangana High Court to quash an FIR lodged against him. This case arises from a tragic event where a 35-year-old woman succumbed to asphyxiation during the premiere of his latest movie ‘Pushpa 2’ at Sandhya Theatre in Hyderabad. The incident, which occurred on the night of December 4, also left her eight-year-old son hospitalized after they were caught in a massive crowd that had gathered to see the actor.
Following the incident, on December 5, the Hyderabad City Police initiated an investigation, charging Allu Arjun, his security detail, and the theatre’s management with offences under Sections 105 and 118(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) at Chikkadpally Police Station. The complaint was lodged by the deceased’s family, prompting immediate legal action which led to the arrest of three individuals associated with the theatre, including one of its owners, the senior manager, and the person in charge of the lower balcony.
In response to the legal actions, Allu Arjun has filed a plea to nullify the FIR and has requested a temporary suspension of all proceedings, including any potential arrest, until the petition is resolved. The High Court is slated to deliberate on this matter shortly.
