The Bar Council of India (BCI) has officially released the schedule for the All India Bar Examination XIX (AIBE 19). The examination is set to take place on November 24, 2024, with the registration link now available on the official website, [allindiabarexamination.com] (http://allindiabarexamination.com). Interested candidates must complete their registration by October 25, 2024.
The BCI has announced that the admit cards for AIBE 19 will be issued on November 19, 2024. The examination is mandatory for law graduates from the academic year 2009-2010 onwards who wish to practice law in Indian courts. According to the BCI, candidates must first enroll as advocates under Section 24 of the Advocates Act, 1961, to be eligible to appear for the examination.
For registration, General and OBC category candidates are required to pay a fee of Rs 3,560, while SC and ST candidates will need to pay Rs 2,560 to complete the application process.
The AIBE is designed to assess the fundamental legal knowledge of aspiring advocates and establish a minimum standard for entering the legal profession, alongside evaluating the candidates’ analytical skills. Successful candidates will receive a Certificate of Practice from the Bar Council of India, allowing them to practice law in courts across the country.
The examination will be conducted over a duration of three and a half hours and will consist of multiple-choice questions (MCQs). Additionally, candidates with an 80% disability will be granted an extra 20 minutes to complete the exam.
