Delhi Excise ‘Scam’: Court Extends CM Arvind Kejriwal’s Judicial Custody Until August 27

In a significant development in the alleged excise scam, a Delhi court on Tuesday extended the judicial custody of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal until August 27. The extension comes as the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) continues its probe into accusations of corruption linked to excise policy irregularities.

Presiding over the case, Special Judge Kaveri Baweja ordered the extension following the expiry of Kejriwal’s earlier custody term. The AAP leader, who was not physically present in court, attended the proceedings via video-conference.

This legal setback for Kejriwal aligns with the upcoming court considerations of a supplementary chargesheet filed by the CBI against him. The document, which details further allegations in the ongoing investigation, is set to be reviewed by the court on the new custody expiry date.
