Chhattisgarh Court Sentences Man to Death for Murder of Wife and Three Children

In a harrowing verdict that has shocked the local community, the Tenth Additional Sessions and District Court in Chhattisgarh’s Bilaspur district sentenced 34-year-old Umend Kewat to death for the brutal murder of his wife and three minor children. The court declared the case as falling under the “rarest of rare” category due to the extreme nature of the crime.

The judgment, delivered by Judge Avinash K. Tripathi on Tuesday, came after meticulous deliberations, culminating in a conviction for the heinous murders that occurred in January of this year. According to the court’s decision, Kewat will face the death penalty by hanging. Additionally, the court imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on the convicted.
