The Rajasthan High Court on Wednesday intervened to ensure the uninterrupted operations of the Zawar Mines factory, located in the districts of Udaipur and Salumber. Justice Dinesh Mehta directed local administrative officials to take decisive action against disruptions caused by protestors at the mining site.
The directive came after the court heard a petition from the mine’s legal representatives, who reported that certain groups were obstructing the mine’s entrance, preventing employees from entering or exiting the facility. According to the counsel, Akhilesh Rajpurohit, the protestors have staged a sit-in at the gates, which he described as an act of “complete hooliganism.”
Rajpurohit argued that the demands for employment by the protestors were unjustified, noting that the majority of the mine’s workforce comprised local residents. He highlighted the company’s efforts in providing job opportunities and its plans to expand employment further, stating that such disruptions could severely impact these initiatives.

The counsel also emphasized the broader economic impact, pointing out that halting the mine’s operations could result in significant financial losses both for the company and the state exchequer. In response to these concerns, Justice Mehta issued notices to the Udaipur and Salumber district administrations, ordering them to ensure that the mine operates without hindrance.
