Strict Directive from Lucknow Police: Parents to be penalised for Children Under 18 Driving Vehicles

Lucknow, July 6, 2024 – The Lucknow Police Commissionerate has issued an important notice today, informing that children under the age of 18 are completely prohibited from driving two-wheelers and four-wheelers. The police clarified that this step is taken for your safety.

All parents, guardians, and vehicle owners in the district have been notified that driving two-wheelers or four-wheelers without a driving license is entirely illegal. If any parentโ€™s child under 18 years of age is found driving a vehicle, strict action will be taken by the police.

According to the police act, if a child is caught driving a vehicle, the following penalties and fines are applicable:

  • Parents/guardians/vehicle owners can be prosecuted under section 125 of the Indian Penal Code.
  • A fine of up to INR 25,000 can be imposed.
  • The vehicle’s registration can be canceled for 12 months.
  • The child can be prohibited from obtaining a driving license until the age of 25.

Lucknow Police appeals to all citizens to strictly adhere to this rule and prevent their children from driving. Strict action will be taken against those who violate this directive.
