The Rouse Avenue Court in Delhi has issued a notice to the Enforcement Directorate (ED) regarding interim and regular bail pleas filed by Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal. The court is scheduled to hear these petitions on June 1. Kejriwal was arrested by the ED on March 21 in connection with the Delhi excise policy case, an investigation centered on allegations of economic offences including money laundering.
During the proceedings, Additional Solicitor General (ASG) SV Raju represented the ED and expressed the agency’s intention to respond to Kejriwal’s bail applications. Raju also accused Kejriwal of omitting significant facts in his pleas.
Kejriwal, who leads the Aam Aadmi Party, was temporarily released on interim bail by the Supreme Court on May 10 to enable his participation in the ongoing Lok Sabha election campaign. However, according to Raju, Kejriwal has claimed to be unwell as his surrender date of June 2 approaches. This development adds another layer of complexity to the high-profile case as political and legal observers keenly await the court’s decision next week.
