In a recent appearance at the Rampur MP-MLA court, cine star and former MP Jaya Prada presented her statement under section 313, addressing allegations related to the violation of the electoral code of conduct. Prada asserted that she had not breached the code of conduct and expressed her apologies for any inadvertent mistakes that may have occurred.
Jaya Prada clarified that her actions were not intentionally wrongful and assured that such incidents would not happen in the future. She appeared in court following the order and is scheduled for the next hearing on March 22.
Her lawyer, Praveen Kumar, confirmed that Prada’s statements were recorded and emphasized their respect for the court’s proceedings, dismissing any speculative media statements.
Previously, on March 4, Jaya Prada had been granted bail after being declared absconding in a case concerning the violation of the electoral code of conduct. The court had detained her for over two hours before releasing her on a bail bond worth Rs. 20,000. Prada cited her health issues and treatment engagements as reasons for her inability to appear in court earlier and promised to attend all future dates.

Jaya Prada is currently facing two cases from 2019 related to the violation of the electoral code of conduct. One of the cases was initiated after she inaugurated a road in the village of Noorpur on April 19, 2019, which became a subject of controversy due to a viral video of the event. The Flying Squad Team’s magistrate had filed a case based on this incident. The continuous hearings of these cases are being conducted in the MP-MLA special court. Another case was registered against her during the 2019 Lok Sabha elections for a similar violation in the Kemri police station area.
