Delhi High Court Round-Up for Tuesday

Important cases heard in the Delhi High Court on Tuesday, January 23:

* HC asked the city police to respond to appeals filed by the four convicts handed down life imprisonment in the Soumya Vishwanathan murder case challenging their conviction and sentence.

* HC recalled its earlier order allowing a woman, who lost her husband in October last year, to terminate her 29-week-old foetus.

* HC has granted divorce to a man over mental cruelty he suffered due to his wife’s “non-adjusting attitude”, saying no fruitful purpose would be served in flogging a dead horse.

* The city government told the HC that the Online Single Window System (OSWS) portal for seamless processing of payment of professional fees to empanelled lawyers will be made operational within two weeks.

* HC has refused to quash an FIR against a former bureaucrat who allegedly promised a job to a man on compassionate grounds and lured him to lodge a fabricated complaint against Delhi government special secretary (vigilance) in connection with a cash-for-compassionate jobs scam.

* HC has directed the National Testing Agency (NTA) to ensure that the final answer key of CUET is uploaded on its portal at least a day prior to the final declaration of result.
