Delhi High Court Round-Up for Thursday

Important cases heard by Delhi High Court on Thursday, December 14:

* HC dismissed a plea which sought postponement of the Delhi Judicial Service Preliminary Examination scheduled for December 17 on the ground that it was clashing with a recruitment test being conducted by the Union Public Service Commission for various law-related posts.

* HC asked the city’s fire services and the civic body to inspect all coaching centres here to ascertain if they are complying with the fire safety norms.

* HC said the issue raised in a petition seeking de-registration of political parties having names with caste, religious, ethnic or linguistic connotations and flags resembling national tricolour will have to be decided by the Parliament and not by courts as it is not in the domain of judiciary.

* HC directed the police and excise department to inspect on a weekly basis unauthorised pubs and bars operating in a residential area in Safdarjung Enclave which are also allegedly illegally serving liquor.
