The Supreme Court on Wednesday stated that POCSO Act was enacted to provide more stringent punishments for the offences of child abuse and Courts cannot are powerless to impose lesser sentence. The bench of Justices Abhay S. Oka and Rajesh Bindal was dealing with the case challenging the judgment passed by the Allahabad High Court.
