Acquittal in Criminal Case Does Not Automatically Entitle Employee to Back Wages and Exoneration in Disciplinary Proceedings: Calcutta HC

The Calcutta High Court, in a recent judgment by Justice Ravi Krishan Kapur, held that an order of acquittal by a Criminal Court does not automatically entitle an employee to exoneration and consequential reliefs, such as back wages, in a departmental disciplinary proceeding, if the acquittal is not based on merits.
