Twenty-four new judges, including nine advocates and fifteen judicial officers, took the oath of office at the Allahabad High Court on Saturday. Chief Justice Arun Bhansali administered the oath at a ceremony held in the Hall on the 12th floor of the High Court Advocates’ Chambers & Multilevel Parking Building, High Court Allahabad.
With the swearing-in of these judges, the working strength of the High Court has increased from 86 to 110. The court, which is the largest in the country, has a total sanctioned strength of 160 judges and will now have 50 vacancies.

The central government had notified their appointments on Friday, following a recommendation from the Supreme Court Collegium. The new appointments are expected to help reduce the massive pendency of cases in the country’s largest high court.
